About

The parish in the Name of the Icon of the Reigning Mother of God in Charlotte, North Carolina is one of the youngest in the Eastern American Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. It was founded in 2005 by a group representing a generation of immigrants from Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania and Uzbekistan.

Starting in 2009, the services have been held in a small temple immersed in greenery, gracing the Southern landscape with the warm rays glancing from the Orthodox domes. The atmosphere in the church and its surroundings speaks of simplicity and cordiality.

The history of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad is represented here by the Logunov and Makarov families.

The rector, Archpriest Alexander Logunov, is a living witness to the history of ROCOR, the Godson of the ever-memorable hieromonk Father Seraphim (Rose), the son of the church warden of the Cathedral of the Most Holy Theotokos in San Francisco in the mid-60s, Nikolai Logunov.

The deacon of the parish, Ioann Makarov, was a long time reader at various churches throughout New York State.

Archpriest Alexander Stepanenko is a native of the Polesie region, a graduate of the Kiev Theological Seminary, and has been serving in our church since 2013. An ardent witness to the Lord, indifference to one’s neighbor and lack of compromise in matters of the Faith earned him high regard from the parishioners.
